Hot Off the Press Printmaking Studio
Hot Off the Press is a membership organization for experienced printmakers who share studio space and community. It is run by Caren Catterall who has a BFA from California College of Arts and Crafts and works as the printmaking lab technician at Santa Rosa Junior College. Previously located at the Barracks Studio Santa Rosa, in February 2012 Caren moved to a beautiful, rural Sebastopol location. The insulated barn has big doors to open on nice days, and a peaceful environment.
Our facilities include about 700 square feet of space, with lots of working surfaces. We have a Sturges CP5 star wheel etching press with a 28 x 48 " bed, and an Ettan etching press with a 20 x 36" bed for half sheet prints. We have nitric acid for etching zinc, and ferric chloride for etching copper in vertical tanks. Other equipment includes an aquatint box, large glass topped inking tables, two hot plates, soaking sink, drying rack, a 16" two handed roller and many small brayers, matt cutter, light tables, ample work tables and flat storage for 22 x 30 paper.
Membership is open to those who can demonstrate adequate knowledge of studio techniques and safety, and can work unsupervised. A portfolio review will be included in the interview for membership.
Membership fees are:
$75 year membership
$25 one time deposit
$125 month for full time access (3 mo. commitment)
